人工智能又一里程碑：微软中-英机器翻译水平可“与人类媲美”

近日，微软研究团队发布消息，他们已经研发出首个可将中文翻译成英文的人工智能翻译系统，该系统完成的中译英文章与语句，具有与人类自然语言相一致的准确性和协调性。

微软自然语言和机器翻译工作的技术专家黄学东（Xuedong Huang）称，这是最具挑战性的自然语言处理任务的重要里程碑之一。

机器翻译是科学家和技术人员们数十年来研究的课题，在此前很多时间里，专家们认为机器永远无法做到像人那样说话与对话。微软机器翻译团队试图证明当使用中文和英文语言对话时，AI 可以表现得像人一样自然，目前他们获得了初步的成果。

但这一里程碑并不代表研究人员已经解决了机器翻译的问题，相反，未来还要面临大量挑战，微软打算先着手在实时新闻报道上（中英文）测试这个 AI，等 AI 成长得足够好之后，就会进入模仿人类对话式的中英互译，同时也会开发其他语种的 AI 智能翻译。

微软的中英翻译 AI 基础方法是双重学习——将中文译成英文，再将英文译回中文来确保翻译结果的准确度，并允许 AI 从自己的错误中学习并改进结果。AI 还会在重复翻译的过程中，根据用户的编辑和修改操作，学会自主编辑和修改翻译结果。这样将保证翻译结果的准确性，语法上也不会再出现颠三倒四的奇怪错误，语句也不再充斥着一股机翻味。

在很好地解决准确性之后，研究团队下一波会考虑让 AI 翻译更接近于人类，比如赋予更多抒情性和情景交谈能力。预计当人工智能在翻译领域充分发展之后，将取代大部分新闻、说明、规范文件等的翻译工作。
